From a cardboard packaging workshop in Klagenfurt, over three generations, an independent corporate group has grown that today manufactures in Austria, Romania and Mexico. The common thread throughout all these years: extracting the best from cardboard and not wasting a single thing.
Wilhelm Goerner Sr. establishes a cardboard packaging business in Klagenfurt. From this foundation, everything else grew over the following decades.
Wilhelm Goerner jun. takes over the operation, expands the capacity and builds a second plant in Klagenfurt.
Elisabeth Goerner takes over the management of the company. The same year, the production site in Lugoj, Romania, is established for the mass series production of packaging made of cardboard.
With the acquisition of Formpack, the production of fiber-based molded parts will also be added, and with that the closed loop: cardboard scraps become a second product. Wilhelm Siller-Goerner becomes managing partner.
The individual companies will be merged into the Goerner Group in order to leverage synergies and pave the way for further areas of expertise.
The founding of Goerner Bionics, where research is conducted on transferring principles from nature to packaging. This later led to GBfiber, the packaging made from pure cellulose fiber with ISEGA approval for contact with food.
The newest location, which has been in operation since 2026, aims to bring a customer closer to their market. Manufacturing takes place where the product is delivered, rather than across continents.
Carton, molded pulp and laminated solutions from a single source, independently managed and set up to stay that way.
New locations, new materials, new processes, and still the same basic attitude as at the beginning: get the best out of cardboard, think in cycles, and take work off the customer’s hands instead of adding to it.
